Transcript – Creating a Simple Activity
Gudday. This is Brookey from the Preserver App. Today, I just want to show you how easy it is to create an Activity in the Preserver app.
So let me open Preserver. Here, of course, we’ve got a list of, our most recent Activities. But now I’m going to create a new one. I click the green button down the bottom. Oops. That’s not it. Back… green button down the bottom, and I’m going to call it General. So, we’ve got a General Activity opening up.
I’ve already got myself embedded on a map. The green means it’s the start of the Activity and we’ve got 4 icons: text, and of course that can be speech- to- text if you like, photographs, video, and you can record audio as well.
So, I’m going to take a photograph, and here I am at Currimundi Lake. If anybody’s been looking at the website, you might recognize this area. Take a photograph, it asked me whether that’s okay or whether I want to retry it, so I’ll say it’s okay. And there we have our open Activity with 1 photograph. Now that’s enough to show you what to do.
Let me now go up the top left there and it says End. I’m going to end that Activity, and I have some options here. Upload to Google Drive, Upload to Google Calendar, they’re both on by default for me because that’s what I do. Every time I finish an Activity I want it uploaded to Google Drive and Google Calendar.
And I can give it a title. So, I’m going to say, “Afternoon”, that’ll do, and end the Activity. So you see the animated text up the top saying it’s uploading to Google Drive? It shouldn’t take long because there’s only one photograph. “Success! Upload Completed”.
So, that’s it. That’s how you do it. So, “Afternoon” is an Activity. My most recent Activity. “Currimundi Lake”, “Afternoon” before, all those were just today.
And what I’m going to do now is to close Preserver and open up my Google Calendar. And you’ll notice that there are some recent Preserver Activities. I’m going to click on the most recent one. We have, “Go to Google Drive”, and “Go to Google Calendar”. I’ll just click on Calendar. That’s me on the banks of Currimundi Lake. If I go back then, sorry, to Calendar, I can also go to Google Drive.
There are two things here. There’s a text file with the same name as the Activity and that’s got the actual coordinates of where I am, where I was, and what observations I made, in fact there was only one observation, and that was an image, and you can see down the bottom, 3rd from the bottom, one image observations.
So, let’s go back and have a look at what it’s got – this is under Calendar, by the way – what’s in media? And you’ll – that’s going now to Google Drive – and you’ll see that the photograph that I just took is now externally held on my Google Drive, as well as still on my Samsung Galaxy.
So, that’s how we do it, and I hope that helps.
